Volunteer Information

What will we be doing?  The needs are diverse and changing.  Your group may be using a chainsaw to remove trees (bring your own), picking up sticks and debris from an elderly person’s yard, helping carry out rain soaked rugs or furniture, rebuilding, or delivering donations.  However, above all else, our mission is to love those we are serving.  We encourage you to pray with anyone and listen to their stories.  Ask how they are doing and how they are feeling…  We must never underestimate the need for kindness, listening ears, hope, and a smile.

I absolutely loved working with Mission 850. In a situation fraught with chaos, suffering, and hopelessness, Mission 850 empowers both individuals and groups to bring hope, be present, and meet the immediate needs of the people affected by Hurricane Michael. Our group was provided with the information and connections we needed to find housing for ourselves, service sites, and also spiritual formation. I would absolutely recommend working with them. More importantly, I would absolutely recommend helping the mission! There is so much destruction, so much work to be done long-term… we’re hoping to head back this summer!
